Not going to happen if you use kids from United States or Canada. At the least you will have minorities.

If with a U.S. setting, I would try to have maybe a 40% White (including the Noriko character), 25% Black, 25% Hispanic (including the Shuya character), and 10% Asian ratio so that no characters are token anything.

If with a Canadian setting, I would use 50% White (40% Anglophone and 10% Francophone), 30% Asian, 10% Black, and 10% Hispanic.

That reminds me - I would have the "Shuya" character as a Hispanic... with his father committing suicide when he finds out that the immigration authorities are after him. The dad had several opportunities to get "clemency" but never followed through with them, paralleling Shuya's dad's failure to care for him.

In my idea of a sequel, the pressures on immigrants would also be represented by the deaths of Shuya and Noriko (now Noriko Nanahara) after Noriko finds that her class (Noriko teaches at an American school) was selected for the game. Both characters try to resist and are shot. They come to the U.S. to escape BR, only to encounter it again!
