I dont think this will be a remake like The Grudge. I think Quentin Tarantino is a good idea, 'cause he knows the japaneese culture and loves the original movie. You can see this more in the original script. There was planed another charakter from BR. Kou Shibasaki (Mitsuko) should play Yuki Yubari but she had no time, 'cause she should have an entire Chapter "Chapter 5: Yukis Revenge". That was too long for her shedule. Anather point for Quentin Tarantino is, he is/was a good friend of Kinji Fukasaka. So he knows what Kinji Fukasaka try to say with this movie. @fourminutemi In Kill Bill not all of the bad guys die, or whould you say that the Bride is a good guy?

He would probably ruin it, but I think the guy who did Donnie Darko (his name has slipped my mind) would do pretty well.

And this already erases some of you favourite people ... but hey, only from my list (and yes, this includes QT...I DON'T want any BS like Mitsuko foot fetish stuff or pointless shoot outs and pointless swearing...and QT basically knows S-H-I-T about japanese culture, he knows some older and mybe newer japanese movies and that's it.) In the end I have only Japanese directors in my head somehow (okay position zero excluded ) So my list...in a somewhat reverse order: 3. Fukasaku Kinji...he actually learned fast since/from BR2 as it seems and at least he should know what BR is about...except he totally forgot about BR1 during the shooting of BR2 2. Shunji Iwai... if somebody can influence him to return to some devices from his early movies... which where not as soft as his newer(well, Lily Chou Chou no subete left out, of course...even if it was not that explicit)...even some scenes from his TV time indicate that he pull something like BR off if he wanted.... but a remake...I have no idea 1. Kitano Takeshi... for already stated reasons 0. ME...yes, me....me...me...me.. even if I would definitly prefer to direct a 5 h mini series that would most probably suffer the same fate as the TV productions that Lucio Fulci directed...i.e. payed by fat, cocaine sniffing TV producers(no, I don't think to many positive things about them either...and Haim Saban can s...but I digress) who should KNOW who they chose and then are hysterical because the result is too violent for TV broadcast. But everyone is safe cause this will not happen. I won't write never...cause it's some long term dream I have though

Anyway, how come you all want only male directors, there are females that direct as well, and since females seem to be better at everything on this planet, maybe a female should direct the BR remake. You people keep complaining in advance about the nudity and swearing and stuff that they'll put in the movie, I doubt there would be nearly as much of that stuff if it was a female director. I'm not good with names, so I can't tell you what female director I think should direct it, but I'm just letting you know that I think that it would be a better idea than some horny for horror and sex crazed male director.
