and then some scenes would be different... like Takako is not after Hiroki anymore but maybe...uhm Nori-whiney, and we will finally get the proof for some of the hints about Yukiko and Yumiko...
and Kiriyama will be female too...

You think that if a female directed it, she'd turn it into a lesbian parade? That's practically what you're saying.
Who is better; Tony Jaa, or Kiriyama Kazuo? Aka: Bone Breaking Muay Thai Kick Boxer, or Emotionless Sword Skilled Killing Machine?
Not exactly... I say if THIS female director/video artist, who explored the nature of lesbain relationships and feminism already in her past works (not to point out her last feature I.K.U.*cough*) this might be what comes out... If it would become a "typical Shu Lea Cheang movie" (which will never happen I guess...) this would become "a lesbian parade" or at least the number of homosexual characters would be largely increased.

No
hes not sayin if a female directs she will turn it into a lesbian parade he's sayin if Shu Lea Cheang directs it, it will be turned into a lesbian parade. you kinda jumped the gun there
EDIT: christ why is everyone postin before me these days!
I read something about Verhoeven. I think it's not the worst ideas. But don't forget that it's a company, and not a director who wanted to buy the movie. So, they will not choose directors they can't control. So, not Verhoeven, not Gilliam (and I don't thik he'd want it), Lycnh, not Carpenter, not Cronenberg (they would be excellent).
I think they will prefer Joel Schumacher .
I suppose you see how I'm pessimit about that movie...
And anyway, whatever the director, it will be a bad movie, because it's an useless movie. A remake will be good in 30 years when new generations will have to appropriate themselves the message...

.......ummmm, ok then......I personally think it is stupid and unneccessary to wait ages before you remake a movie, Battle Royale is the best movie ever made, and it deserves to be remade over and over again, I think every single fan fic should be made into a movie, that would actually be entertaining, instead of watching all the crap on at the cinemas these days, such as D.O.A, which is the biggest pile of @#%$ on the planet.

It's ok, so you agree with me, when I'm saying this american remake is useless? I just said it can be good in 30 years, to make this movie closer to the teenage behaviour of that period. To make the same story, but closer to youth. And may be these young people would refer to the BR we all know. And anyway, I'm not saying I want a remake in 30 years, but I just mean it's the only remake I could accept...
I seriously hate the remake idea though, I mean, I'm still looking forward to what America can dig up, but I would have much rathered a Japanese director make Battle Royale 3 instead. Cos if it's a remake, not that much will really be changed. But if they made a BR3, they could take it back to the original Battle Royale story, but just with different students, different weapons, different character personalities and so on. That's what I expected from Battle Royale 2, so hopefully somebody in Japan decides to do that, not Kenta Fukasaku though, cos he sucks.

Why do you say Kenta Fukasaku sucks? BRII is not so bad... And the BR screenplays seems to be good... But I think it will be difficult to have a normal BRIII after the BRII story, I don't know how somebody could appropriate it, with introducing something new...
Who do you think could do that? Katsuhito Ishii? (the manga in Kill Bill) Kore eda? (too strange) Miike? (I think he would be the only one...)
Two famous well directors, wouldn't work well together, as they would both have there own total opinion on the film and want too make it differently, so they would clash at making the film together... Also it would cost producers too much too hire them both...
are you just naming random film directors? peter jackson makes either cgi fantasy movies or low class horror films. ridley scott is an interesting notion though. but spielberg?
