No release date yet that I know of but since the release date for Vol. 14 is November I would take aguess that Vol. 15 won't be released until at least January next year.
Nah, I'm guessing it'll probably come out in November or December. I'm almost positive that Volume 14 will come out earlier then November and so Volume 15 will come out earlier then January... but, I can't be certain. The other volumes have been released earlier then scheduled to, so I think the same will hold true for these two last volumes.
Hi all, I'm new here and I have recently bought the BATTLE ROYALE Mangas, and I have a question.
On Volume 3 & 8 It shows sex scenes, and in Volume 3 it shows Yoji sitting up on the bed naked....but where his privates are meant to be, it's just a white blank...what's up with that? And why does it do that?
I think (and perhaps someone more knowledgeable about manga here can chime in) that it has to do with the quirks of Japanese censors, that the genitalia can't be drawn in detail; you'll notice that a lot of the, um, penetration is also concealed with lots of moisture.
Yeah, in case someone was wondering, this is also found in the Japanese manga--this isn't Tokyopop's doing.
It's to be in conformance with Japanese censorship laws; given that attitudes re. sex are different in Japan and that there is quite a market for adult manga and anime, this seems strange. The same thing is in effect with the pixelation to be found in Japanese pr0n.
Its kinda "spiritually" naked, you see the same thing in Digimon 2 and Final Fantasy X-2, I think its supposed to be a physical representation of thier souls, they've left thier clothes and human worries behind and they're at peace kinda thing...

[OT]Sephy, in FFX-2 the only "peace" in seeing those chicks naked is for the horny players' eyes.[/OT] Just kidding. *feels ashamed for having cosplayed good ol' FFX Yuna*
Jokes apart... Does anyone know the reason behind the choice of such a LOSER for drawing Blitz Royale?
Hitoshi Tomizawa? I've seen some of the Alien 9 manga and it looked very chibi. Hard to imagine him doing anything BR related. I'm trying to get Blitz Royale, but I've had no success.
I don't really know why Koshun Takami choose to work with him, I guess he sits on a hill and shouts to people with a megaphone, asking for a manga-ka. Blitz Royale was made when Masayuki Taguchi was occupied with Battle Royale so maybe Tomizawa was just aviable for work? I don't know how this system works...

Quote: hehe
Takami: Everyone! Stop fighting you guys! you'll all get a chance to draw for Battle..ARRRGH!
Giffen: *ambushed Takami from behind* Now I am free to massacre Battle Royale! MWA HA HA HA! F**k a duck!
ROFL!!!
Blitz Royale isn't nearly as well drawn as Taguchi's art, but then again, most manga artists aren't that detailed either (especially Shonen artists...they have to get chapters done for their manga every week). But I admit, the more cartoony Digimon-esque style of Blitz Royale's a turn off. It's hard to take the characters seriously when they look that goofy.
As far as I know, most mangaka have assistants, whether their work is detailed or not. It depends on a series of conditions, but of course there is a higher probability for detail-obsessed mangaka (ie., Miura, Hagiwara, Taguchi himself) to have a whole bunch of assistants, who usually draw backgrounds or fill black areas (I swear).
Anyway - not every manga is serialized weekly. But yes, many of them are.
I know that some translations switch it around here in America.
But I can't tell it they did that in the BR novel. It doesn't help that some appear to be called by they're family names and some by they're persaonal names.
In the novel, most of the students are reffered to by thier given names, I suppose the translator did this to make it easier for western readers, is you look at the class list in the novel the names are listed as given name, family name, i that order.

In the novel/manga, who did Mayumi Tendo hang out with??? I was thinking about this and realized that I don't remember or they never mentioned anything. ( I would look at my mangas, but they are all boxed up haha)
In the manga I don't think it mentions anything about her, in the novel it says that she "phone dated" but pretended to be a nice girl, some people place her with Mitsuko's gang, but with her pretending to be a "nice girl" i'd place her as a bit of a loner, maybe sort-f one of Utsumi's gang but not quite.

In manga no.10 Yuko Sakai has a flashback about two boys fighting at school. One of the boys is Mitsuru Numai the other I think looks like Tadakatsu Hatagami. Can someone confirm that for me please?I might write something about that in my fanfic. Thanks
