armybrat, I was hoping that nobody else would post Spongebob. But I watched it this morning too. And I would be lying if I said it pleased me. I never watched the show, but I thought I might get a kick out of the movie.
Last night, as a refresher to tomorrow's launching of Revenge of the Sith, my girlfriend and I watched Episode 1 -- The Phantom Menace, tonight we plan to watch Attack of the Clones, followed by ROTS at the theater Thursday then the original trilogy New Hope, Empire, and Jedi the following nights... Friday, Saturday, and ending Sunday, capping off our "super nerdy Star Wars movie marathon week".
I haven't seen a movie in a theater since "Be Cool" (lousy movie overall, but The Rock made it fun); I've been watching bits and pieces of movies on DVD since, but not a substantial enough slice of movie for it to count. The last movie I saw beginning to end was a documentary called 20 Dates, which was a really charming, simple, and clever film that was ahead of its time in having its protagonist filmed while going out on dates (guess how many). The movie predated (no pun intended) and probably even inspired all the "Blind Date" "Elimidate" and assorted such shoot-the-date type crappy dating shows, and unlike those shows, was an attempt to honestly portray one guy's search for love.
It was a documentary called, "The Corporation". I revisited "Faster Pussycat... Kill! Kill!" last night, but that doesn't count!
---------------------------- If you understand why "Kill Bill" is a good movie and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake is not, and "Bad Santa" is a good movie and "The Cat in the Hat" is not, then you have freed yourself from the belief that a movie's quality is determined by its subject matter. You instinctively understand that a movie is not about what it is about, but about how it is about it...
The Enron movie, it was really good. I also got to meet the director Alex Gibney and talk to him a little about it. I don't really know a lot but I thought it was really cool.
